And when you finally get it, it's insane. I'm the kind of person who plays a lot of RPG like games that involve doing the same thing over and over until you get that one perfect piece of "loot," or whatever it may be, so it's kind of like that when capturing Kor ships. The current systems makes sense to me, as I would find no fun in the self destruct ratings being lower and just being able to practically pick up some of the strongest capturable ships in the game when I find them disabled. It's entirely possible that an automaton would have some way of defending itself other than self destructing, such as small automated turrets within/on the ship itself that defend against boarders.Īs for enjoyability, I don't know. That would be a nonsensical solution. That's why I put crew in quotes. The automations are not built for crew, and they are not boarded and invaded per say. Originally posted by Derpy Horse:I don't think there's any way to make the automaton ships easier to cap and not make it way too profitable without changing the boarding system to allow automatons to have capture/defense and a "crew" count. I am interested in player experience/enjoyment and future plans for the mechanic. The Starting Ships are quite good in many ways, and there may be downsides to. However, not all planets have Shipyards, and Shipyards do not always sell the same ships. Ships can be purchased through the Shipyard which can be found on many planets through out the game. "Why we think we need it and how much we need it" has been done to death. If you want to see more, you can head to Alien Ships. So what is your experience with the system as is? Enjoyable? Annoying? Disheartening? "Right" in game flavor? Exhilarating (when you finally succeed)? Does it make you feel like your gaming experience is reduced to flipping a coin repeatedly and a 4-year-old could do it? Not the balance considerations, but the raw facts and playing experience. The topic is whether this is the final status quo, and other players' opinions of the mechanics as a gaming experience. My argument would be that the numbers need tweaking even now, with 2 chances to explode. Alternately, you could just reduce their value. By the time you reach and defeat the Kor, that's not a primary concern. It's easy to make a few billion in an hour various ways anyway. The used parts branch will fix the piracy economy, pretty much, along with some price changes.
